About COODA
Canadian Observatory on Derisking Abuse
The Canadian Observatory on Derisking Abuse (COODA) was founded to shine a light on a silent and often invisible injustice: the systemic exclusion of individuals and communities from financial services without due process, explanation, or recourse.

Our Mission
We exist to inform, educate, and advocate. COODA documents and exposes cases of discriminatory derisking — practices by banks and financial institutions that disproportionately affect racialized, marginalized, and Muslim communities under the guise of "risk management." We believe that access to banking is a human right, and no one should be punished financially because of who they are, where they come from, or who they are associated with.

What We Do
Research & Documentation
We gather data, case studies, and testimonials to reveal patterns of abuse in financial exclusion.
Advocacy & Reform
We work with community leaders, legal experts, and human rights organizations to push for policy changes and regulatory oversight.
Policy Monitoring & Accountability
We monitor financial regulations and policies related to derisking. When institutions act unjustly, we raise awareness and call for transparency.
